ONE “INSTRUCTIVE PROVERB A DAY”
TITLE: The Lord’s Purpose Prevails
Text: Read Proverbs 19:21
Date: 13 September 2011

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” (Prov 19:21, NIV)
The popular paraphrase of this proverb is this: “Man proposes; God disposes.” The essence of this usage is that everything can be 100% guaranteed. Of course. No one is able to provide a perfect plan, much less perfect results. That is why people in strategy board rooms often talk about Plan B, or Plan C, etc.
The proverb is not exactly, “Man proposes, God disposes.” The focus in more on letting anyone know that there is Someone Greater. Let no man think he is more than God. Most importantly, man needs to be self-aware, that he is not smaller, not bigger, but just the right size. Let no midget pretend that he is a giant. The consequences will be embarrassing, even tragic.
“The will of God will never take you to where the grace of God will not protect you.” (Unknown)
Time to Reflect: Do not ask for God’s will. Ask for the strength and obedience to obey, before asking for God’s Will.
